RAISING HOPE
Within the hour a second police cruiser was parked in front of my house. I can only imagine what the neighbors must have thought. A single woman moves in and has police arriving on her second night. Those thoughts were soon forgotten as I met the officer at the door and took the baby girl in my arms.
As the officer walked back towards her car, I looked up and asked if she also had a note pinned to her blanket. The officer pulled the folded note out of her pocket and handed it to me. The handwriting was different, but the message was similar:
I hope you’ll give my baby a good home
Hope. It felt like a light bulb lit up inside my brain. Ms. Simwell. Me. Full circle. Now I had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, much like she did. I smiled and whispered softly to the namesake I held in my arms, “Hello, Hope. You are going to love it here.”
She’s such an angel for doing this :3 Give her a hug and a thank you from me, will you? π
Nancy truly appreciates your show of support! She doesn’t think of herself as an angel, but definitely felt the presence of one (Hope Simwell) in her own life and loves the concept of “paying it forward”. Let’s hope she still does when they become teens π
Hope and Chance. Awesome name choices. π
Thanks! They fit in really well with the story and I hope other names will be just as good.
